I do not want human society to run on sexual selection. The fact that we are gendered variously allows for the participation of a variety of people in a variety of ways, so that we can form communities and solve problems. Ingenuity and creativity do not always align with the sexiest physique but we need them in our collective cultures. If you are a queer civil engineer or doctor (or whatever), then I want you working in peace and not harrowed by bigots. If having a partner that makes you happy is part of that peace, it’s in our best interests to allow and even fight for that.
